About Me

After earning a BFA in musical theatre from Syracuse University—where I learned the nuts and bolts of character-building and storytelling—I interned at Marie Claire magazine before beginning my publishing career at Doubleday, a division of Penguin Random House. For eleven years, I worked under legendary publisher Nan A. Talese, acquiring and editing books that went on to become finalists for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the National Jewish Book Award, the NAACP Image Award, the Thurber Prize for American Humor, the PEN Award for Biography, and the Minnesota Book Award.

In 2015, I launched my independent editorial practice. I now help authors shape fiction and memoir into emotionally resonant, well-structured books. My feedback is clear and actionable, designed to bring out the best in a manuscript while offering guidance writers can carry forward to future projects.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide range of writers, including #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Weiner; Alka Joshi, whose novel The Henna Artist was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick; renowned cartoonist Jules Feiffer; and the late U.S. Senator Carl Levin.

I’ve also spoken on panels hosted by Hunter College, Wayne State University Press, the Jewish Book Council, and the Sarah Lawrence Writing Program.

Based in Detroit, I spend my free time chasing after my two sons, reading, and practicing yoga.
